Manabu Asaoka is the co-owner of Mana Musubi (formerly known as Mana-Bu’s), on King Street in Honolulu. His award-winning shop has been featured on Food Network and Travel Channel programs. The shop produces 35 different types of musubi, offering a limited number of pieces each day, which are sold out by lunchtime.
Maria Asaoka, the niece of author Manabu Asaoka, is an up-and-coming illustrator based in Shizuoka, located in central Japan with fantastic views of Mt. Fuji. She specializes in yuru-kyara, a contemporary Japanese drawing style of cute and unsophisticated characters.
